The Avengers: What Could Have Been

We’re as excited as anybody about the upcoming Avengers movie because the little comic book geeks inside of all of us has been waiting to see Earth’s Mightiest Heroes assembled on screen since the 1980s. However, what we’re going to see from Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr and Samuel L Jackson beginning May 4, isn’t going to have the same look we envisioned back in the day. This Avengers movie is as story based on the Ultimate Avengers line of comic books which, among other things, re-imagined the team and the characters as more modern and plausible. Thus the comic book writers specifically had Samuel L Jackson in mind when they decided to make S.H.I.E.L.D’s Nick Fury black instead of an unshaven white dude.

For a look at what the Avengers movie could have looked like –and what millions of 11-year olds thought it would look like back in 1986– suspend your disbelief and enjoy this fan trailer. It feature the Vision, Scarlett Witch and Ant-Man. Comic book nerds will know why that’s significant.

The average dad spends about 6 hours a week with his kids. That’s not perfect, but today’s dads are doing better than the previous generation. PlaygroundDad.com is for the dads who dare to make the most of these 6 sacred hours–no smart phones; no conference calls–just quality time.

Playground Dad connects this new generation of fathers with the events and products that help them spend better time with their newborn to grade school aged kids.
