The Rebirth of Simplicity

kaikuThe space for kids toys and products targeted at parents is a crowded one, so it’s rare when you come a across a product that is immediately compelling. But we got excited about the products from a small shop in Northern California immediately just because their wagon, PUSHPULL rolling toy and STROLLKART look so damn cool. They’ve updated timeless toys with design that is modern but remains timeless. No plastic on these karts, just wood, steel and rubber, all of it made by hand.

The Kaiku products aren’t cheap, they’ll run you about $300 for the flagship Zen super wagon, but they actually are better investments as they aren’t plastic equivalents that you’ll have to replace annually. Also, the bold, natural designs encourage play and creativity. When so many of the toys that we purchase for our kids are based on TV and movie characters, it’s refreshing to go back to the basics of sturdy, handmade toys that your kids can abuse for many years with the focus being on the actual time spent playing and not the licensed cartoon character tattooed to the side of the design.
We encourage you to check out the Kaiku products.

While the images look great, seeing this in person is even more exciting.
