A Pair of Brave Clips

We were so caught up in last week’s NFL Draft that this draft-themed trailer for Pixar’s “Brave” totally evaded our radar. Yeah we’re late but that’s only given us extra time to come up with something clever to say. A feisty daughter skewering “Braveheart” and sharp kilt humor makes for a winner in our book. This one should provide context for a few discussions about history as well and we’re always looking to spring that trap on unsuspecting grade schoolers.

And that brings us to the draft-themed trailer. I’m no expert in Scottish history but I’m going to go ahead and question, whilst refusing to conduct any research, whether the Scots had contact with Scandinavian Vikings. Likewise, the Colts and Rams references in the clip appear to be a little thin. The heroine is clearly riding some large-hoofed horse like a Clydesdale. Everybody knows those monsters are only good for pulling beer trucks and fire engines through mountain passes. Also, sheep are fuzzy and cuddly when they make their sheep noises. Rams are ferocious and hardheaded. Just saying.

Oh and as bonus check out the most recent full length trailer for “Brave.”

The main character’s voice is courtesy of Kelly Macdonald, who’s perfectly cast as early 20th century immigrant Margaret Schroeder in “Boardwalk Empire.” The way they transported her from the 1920s into modern times to do this voiceover is amazing.

The average dad spends about 6 hours a week with his kids. That’s not perfect, but today’s dads are doing better than the previous generation. PlaygroundDad.com is for the dads who dare to make the most of these 6 sacred hours–no smart phones; no conference calls–just quality time.

Playground Dad connects this new generation of fathers with the events and products that help them spend better time with their newborn to grade school aged kids.
