‘Everyone’ Deserves Good Music During The Holidays

by Mike Johnson on December 17, 2009

putumayoThere are so many great things that come with the holidays, but, no matter what anyone says, it’s the music that really sets the mood. When you’re wrapping presents together or heading to a holiday party with the kids it’s often hard to find something that gets everyone in the spirit. There’s gotta be something between Band Aid and Cheetah Girls Christmas, right? In steps Putumayo World Music once again.

Now, we’ve loved the Putumayo Presents albums for years. They’re great because they don’t do kids’ music or parents’ music per se, it’s just great music that crosses regions, genres and that ever important generational gap—it is truly infectious.

The Putumayo formula continues to work for the holiday season on A Family Christmas. This compilation has a little of everything; some jazz, folk, blues, a little ska…you name it. There is even a cover of Louis Armstrong’s “Is Zat You Santa Claus” by an artist named Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. There are really no skips on this holiday album and all members of the family will definitely have a favorite song.

Everyone loves firing up the yuletide tunes during the holidays, but it’s great to know that there is more out there than The Chipmunks and Mariah Carey (not knocking either, love both). Pick up Putumayo Presents: A Family Christmas and get everyone in the spirit this season.
